Cuban Missile CrisisIn 1963, the Soviet Union installed nuclear missiles in Cuba. It was just 90 miles from U.S. shores. John F. Kennedy was president during this time and he warned the Americans about the crisis. The U.S. was prepared to use military forces against them to stop them and neutralize them. The disaster was later avoided when the U.S. agreed to promise to not invade Cuba so the Soviet Union removed the missiles from Cuba.
